CENA DE CLAUSURA

19 de Septiembre

Mañana
09,30 – 12,00 PANEL DE DISCUSIÓN

How much longer before my exposed HDPE liner dies? Here’s a plan now let's improve it

Moderadores:
Ian D. Peggs (USA)
Catrin Tarnowski (Alemania)

This panel discussion will probably be more of a brainstorming session to identify the performance parameters and the extent to which they impact a determination of the remaining service life in, as an example, an exposed HDPE geomembrane liner in a potable water reservoir. The objective is to define what should be considered as End of Live (EOL) and to define a practical protocol to determine when it will occur.

Components of a proposed protocol will be presented and one panelist will spend about five minutes discussing the reasons for and against that component and what might be an alternative approach/procedure. At the end of the introductory presentations discussion will be opened to the floor.

The agenda and parameters that may be monitored to assess time to EOL, and the panelists who will discuss them are:

1.- Introduction
Ian D. Peggs
I-CORP INTERNATIONAL, Inc., USA

2.- Oxidation/reduction potential and pH of water
Ian D. Peggs
I-CORP INTERNATIONAL, Inc., USA

3.- Stabilizer loss, S-OIT, and surface protection
Helmunt Zanzinger
SKZ, Alemania

4.- Carbonyl Index as a measure of surface oxidation
Montse García
Dow Chemical Company, Suiza

5.- Carbonyl Index-is there a critical value at which stress cracking is initiated?
Haager Markus
AGRU KUNSTSTOFFTECHNIK, Austria

6.- Stress cracking resistance and effect on time at which SC initiates
Catrin Tarnowski
GSE Environmental GmbH, Alemania

7.- A definition for EOL
Ian D. Peggs
I-CORP INTERNATIONAL, Inc., USA

8.- GENERAL DISCUSSION/BRAINSTORMING

9.- Closure
Catrin Tarnowski
GSE Environmental GmbH, Alemania

The complete discussion will be recorded and every attempt made to produce a transcript which will be available on the internet.
