All you need to know.

Valencia has two official languages: Valencian, the language of the Region of Valencia, and Castilian, official language of Spain.

Opening Hours
Meals take place a little bit later than in the rest of Europe. Breakfast, continental, is taken between 7:30 and 10 am. Lunch, in restaurants, is served between 2 pm and 3:30 pm, and dinner, from 9 pm to 10:30 pm. Shops are open from 10 am to 1:30 – 2 pm in the morning and from 4:30-5 pm to 8-9 pm in the afternoon. Shopping Centres open from 10 am to 9 pm. Most shops in shopping centres open on Saturday morning, but are closed on Sundays and bank holidays.

Valencia has one of the mildest climates in Europe. It is characterized by a typical Mediterranean climate, with an annual average temperature over 17 ºC. Summers are warm and winters are moderate. During the winter months the temperature is never below 10 ºC. Rainfalls are also moderate, with the Mediterranean classical summer minimal and two maximums, one in autumn and another at the end of winter, start of spring.

Tips are already included in prices and bills, so they are not compulsory. Nevertheless, you can leave a tip if you are happy with the service (specially in bars and restaurants).

Most banks open from Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 2-2:30 pm. Only a few branches open on a Saturday morning. In the city you will be able to find many cash points, open 24 hours, many of which offer an international service (Servired, 4B, etc.).

Credit Cards
Most hotels, restaurants and shops in Valencia accept the usual credit cards, like American Express, VISA, Mastercard, 4B, Access and Diners Club.

In Valencia the standard voltage is 220-240V CA, 50 Hz. Appliances from the United States will require a transformer and an adaptor. Plugs have two round pins and you will find an adaptor in any hardware store.
